Jefferson's Passions: Religious Freedom
John Ragosta, author of Religious Freedom: Jefferson's Legacy, America's Creed, discusses how Thomas Jefferson stood at the center of our understanding of religious liberty and the First Amendment. Participants will join Ragosta on the terras roof of Mr. Jefferson’s beloved Poplar Forest home, enjoy a glass of wine and discuss his expansive vision for establishing religious freedom.

Independence Day Celebration
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. What better way to celebrate Independence Day than at Thomas Jefferson's second home! Enjoy music, dancing, historical entertainment, games, storytelling, and the reading of the Declaration of Independence. Admission is $8.00 for adults. Ages 15 and under are FREE! House tours are also available for the reduced rate.

Summer Kids Camp: History, Archaeology, and Restoration

Legends of the Land
Experience Mr. Jefferson's retreat in a whole new light. Listen to tradional African American story tellers divulge period folktales and myths as you take an evening lantern tour of the plantation. Also see if there are any ghoulish activities at Poplar Forest with local paranormal group, After Life Investigations! Participate in stargazing activites with Dr. Neal Sumerlin, Retired Founding Director of the Belk Observatory at Lynchburg College. Admission in $15.
