| Notes: Marbles are one of the few objects associated with children's lives that survive in the archaeological record. Most playthings in the early 19th century were made of wood or cloth and are rarely recovered. However, adults also played the game of marbles and this could have been a social leisure activity within the slave quarters. | ||
