Help keep pets safe during the dog days of summer

A New Path to Jefferson

raised of $2,500.00 goal

The makeshift kennel for our canine visitors is far past due for some much-needed improvements. With your support, we can build a new structure that serves the needs of Poplar Forest’s four-legged friends.

Faithful to Thomas Jefferson’s love of classical architecture as well as his inventive nature, Poplar Forest’s Director of Architectural Restoration, Travis McDonald, has designed a unique order of architecture to serve the new kennel—the “Canossic order.” The name is derived from the Latin work “canis,” for dog, and the Latin word “ossis,” for bone, and it will be reflected in the finished structure, with bone-topped columns that resemble the Greek and Roman Ionic order of architecture.
