Stock Gifts
Poplar Forest puts gifts of appreciated securities to work right away. Securities are an easy way to give and offers two tax advantages. First, the full fair market value of the stock is fully tax deductible. Second, by transferring stock directly to the organization, donors avoid capital gain taxes.

The quickest and most secure way to donate securities is to ask your broker to make a transfer from your account to the organization's broker through the Depository Trust Company (DTC). Please instruct your broker to add your name in the subject line of the transfer, so that we can identify you as the donor.  Alternatively, you may wish to deliver personally held stock certificates directly or to register securities in the organization's name. To alert us of a DTC transfer or for help with these other transactions, please contact the Development Department at development@poplarforest.org or (434) 534-8129.
