Accessible from the parlor via double sash doors or triple sash windows, the south porch offers an inspiring view of south lawn which was landscaped with flowering shrubs during Jefferson's years here.  

Image at left shows the arched entrance to the lower level of the house where the wine cellar is.  Research is still being done to determine what the other rooms in the lower level were used for, but it was thought to be used as sleeping quarters for some of the house slaves.
