Admission to Poplar Forest includes a guided house tour—by app or docent (when available)—and self-guided exploration of exhibits in the lower level of the house, the Wing of Offices, the ornamental grounds, the 1857 Slave Dwelling and the Slave Quarter Site. Enslaved Community Talks, which provide additional insight into the world and life of the enslaved residents, are offered at no extra cost when a docent is available. SELF-GUIDED app TOUR
Download the new Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest app before your visit to take a guided tour of the president’s retreat at your own pace. The app is available on both the Apple app store and Google Play store, and features audio tours of the main level of the octagonal villa and the Wing of Offices that can be listened to with headphones or read.
Visitors opting to listen to the app tour are asked to use headphones and encouraged to bring their own. Wired headphones for phones with headphone jacks can be purchased in the Museum Shop if needed.

Try the $20 combo ticket—a 33% discount over the regular admission price—that includes admission and tour at both Poplar Forest and the National D-Day Memorial. Poplar Forest is proud to participate in the Blue Star Museums program to offer free admission (with ID) to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families.
